Donald F. Rothman, 77, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit. Born July 12, 1942 in Monroe, he is the son of the late Harry L. and Della (Fruchey) Rothman. Don attended Monroe High School, graduating with the class of 1960. He married his beloved wife, Carol A. Green, on August 10, 1963. Sadly, after thirty-seven years of marriage, she preceded him in death on May 4, 2000. Don worked for the United States Postal Service, Monroe Post Office, as a Mail Carrier for thirty years, retiring in 1997. Don enjoyed bowing with his wife, participating in many leagues and tournaments. He was skilled at tying flies for fishing and spent many mornings at the Washago Pond, at Willow Metro Park fly fishing with friends. He also cherished time spent with his grandchildren, especially taking them fishing at the Munson Park pond. To cherish his memory, Don leaves three children: David (Katie) Rothman of Parma, Ohio, Kevin (Barbara) Rothman of Monroe and Debra (James II) Bordeau of LaSalle; four siblings: Colette Carollo, LeVerne Rothman, Allen Rothman and Diane Major; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charitable organization of the donor’s choice. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, November 11, 2019, at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 South Telegraph Road, Monroe, MI 48161. Services celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Bacarella Funeral Home. Rev. Larry Detruff will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
