Donald Earl Blohm

January 17, 1936 - February 13, 2022

Donald Earl Blohm, 86 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan passed away surrounded by family on February 13, 2022 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. Born January 17, 1936, in Monroe, he was the son of Earl L. and Louella R. (Stowell) Blohm and was both baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe. Donald attended Monroe High School, graduating with the class of 1954 and served in the Army from 1959-1960 including 13 months in Korea. On September 23, 1961 he married Faye (Hoover) Blohm at Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe. Donald worked 28 years for La-Z-Boy, retiring in 1999 and also served as administrator and trustee of the La-Z-Boy Foundation subsequent to his retirement. Donald was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Northern Michigan and golfing. Most of all he enjoyed time spent with family. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 60 years, Faye; children: Jeff (Phyllis) Blohm of Monroe and Joel (Anne Christman) Blohm of Lincoln, MI, grandchildren: Justin (Katelyn) Blohm of Petoskey, Tyler (Ashley) Blohm of Monroe, Joshua (Liz Steinmetz) Blohm of Cincinnati, OH, Sara (Max Bradford) Blohm of New Orleans, LA, and Aaron Blohm of Monroe, and great-grandchildren: Olivia and Mia Blohm of Petoskey. Donald was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Louella, sister, Nancy Boggess, brothers; Aaron and Jerry Blohm and a daughter in law, Rhonda Blohm. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 - 8 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Road in Monroe. On Thursday, February 17, 2022 he will lie in state at Grace Lutheran Church, 630 N. Monroe Street in Monroe, beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by funeral services celebrating Donald’s life at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Mark Witte, will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Grace Lutheran Church or Visiting Angels 15649 S.
