Deanna E. Dandron

Deanna E. (Bonifacio) Dandron, 79 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Born May 17, 1937 in Monroe, Dee was the daughter of the late Alfred R. and Anna M. (Didario) Bonifacio. Dee attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Elementary School and Church in Monroe, where she was baptized and confirmed. She was a 1955 graduate of St. Mary Academy. On September 15, 1956 Dee married her beloved husband Arnold W. Dandron at St. John’s. Monsignor Shaw officiated. Dee and Arnold owned and operated the family business, Dandron Roofing and Siding for 25 years. They retired in 1986. Dee was a wonderful and avid golfer and as a member of the Monroe Golf and Country Club won 11 Ladies Championships from 1979-1995. Dee enjoyed giving back to her community by volunteering for and holding various board positions for The United Way of Monroe County, Lioness Club of Monroe, Monroe Community Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, The ISD Parent Advisory Board, and organized golf events for the American Cancer Society, and on several occasions co-chaired several art auctions with Harriet Sisman for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Monroe. In 2003 Dee joined The Republican Women’s Club of Monroe County and served on the Executive Committee. She helped with several local, state, and presidential campaigns and in 2012 she was the recipient of the Tribute to Women Award for her dedication and hard work. In addition to playing golf Dee took several trips to Europe. She enjoyed winter fishing trips to the Florida Keys, steelhead fishing in Northern Michigan and was presented the Master Angler award. Dee was also a wonderful homemaker and loved to cook, especially Italian food for her family and friends. Most of all Dee enjoyed time spent with family, nothing brought her more joy than her grand and great grandchildren. Dee is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Arnold, five loving children: Robert E. (Shanna) Dandron of Monroe, Ann M. Zawislak of Royal Oak, MI, Alan J. (David Boyd) Dandron of Plainfield, NJ, Susan M. Dandron of Monroe and Patricia D. (Jason) Alba of Pleasant Ridge, MI, seven cherished grandchildren: Matthew (Nichole) Michael, Emily, Deanna, Naomi, Nate, and Noah, two treasured great grandchildren: Sophia and Emmaline, a sister: Linda (Martin) Selvidge of Monroe and a sister-in-law: Leona Bonifacio of Monroe. In addition to her parents, Dee was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Kenneth Zawislak on June 30, 2016, a brother: Ennio “Teke” Bonifacio, and a sister: Josephine (Alex) Castellese. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-8 PM at the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI, 48161, where funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Deacon Mike Stewart will officiate. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe. Memorial contributions are suggested to a cancer charity of the donor’s choice.
