Carol Lynn Harper

February 27, 1945 - January 19, 2022

Carol Lynn Harper, age 76 of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Beaumont Hospital, Trenton, MI. Born February 27, 1945 in New Eagle, PA, Carol was the daughter of the late Lawrence and E. Jean (Wright) Biddle. On August 19, 1968, she married Donald B. Harper in Monongahela, PA. Together they raised two children. Sadly, he preceded Carol in death on June 27, 1984. Carol attended West Virginia University and the California State Teachers College where she earned her Bachelor Degree in Education. She taught at Creative Montessori Academy in Southgate for several years before becoming a substitute teacher in Monroe County. Carol was a member of the Red Hat Society, enjoyed doing a variety of crafts, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Football fan. She liked to sing and was musically inclined, playing the clarinet and organ. Carol is survived by a son, Daniel (Krista) Harper of Monroe; two sisters, Kathy Fowler of Florence, KY and Ginger (Robert Dettwyler) Biddle of West Chester, PA; four grandchildren: Taylor (Randy Luft) Harper, Jenna Clark, Briel Harper, and Jolee Harper; four great-grandchildren: Emma, Owen, Kolten, and Klayton; nephew, Justin (Carrie) Hillman of Burlington, KY; and sister-in-law, Roseann Harper of Donora, PA. In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was also preceded in death by a son, Donald “Bud” Harper, and three nephews, Lambert Hillman, Sean Harper, and Troy Harper. Bacarella Funeral Home is assisting the family with cremation directives in accordance with Carol’s wishes. She will be interred near family in Pennsylvania. No services are scheduled.
