Ann M. Whitaker

November 30, 1923 - March 25, 2022

Ann M. Whitaker, age 98, a lifelong resident of Newport, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 25, 2022, while at Fountain View of Monroe, Michigan. Born November 30, 1923 she was the daughter of Archie and Victoria (Fix) Langton. Ann worked for over 30 years for the former Calgon factory in S. Rockwood. She enjoyed attending family reunions, getting together with her sisters for luncheons, her bible studies with the ladies or St. Charles Church, and getting together with friends to seek out garage sales. Ann was an active member of St. Charles Altar Society and assisted in giving communion to members at Mass. She also enjoyed working in the garden. Ann is survived by her two children, Vicky (Fred) Sacks of Monroe, John Whitaker of Surprise, AZ; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Gertrude Schafer of Carleton and many nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by six sisters, Margaret Eby, Mary Masserant, Theresa Gierman, Frances Masserant, Olive Barron, Leona Langton; five brothers, Amos Langton, Irvin Langton, Al Langton, Joe Langton and Leonard Langton. Visitation will be held Friday, April 1, 2022 from 1 to 7 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48161. She will lie instate at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles Church, Newport with Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m., burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Newport. The family would suggest memorial contributions be made to St. Charles School or Church or ProMedica Hospice. The family would like to especially thank the staff of Fountain View of Monroe and ProMedica Hospice for the care, kindness and support provided to Ann and her family.
