I got to know Angela from our shared patients at the VA. She was a joy to work with! She always had a smile and so much energy and enthusiasm. She was greatly loved here by her friends at work and is greatly missed. My prayers and heartfelt condolences go out to all her family -- how beloved she must be as a daughter, sister, and aunt. I am thankful for the gift of Angela's life -- we are all changed because of it. May God grant you peace and comfort during this difficult time.

I worked with Angela at the VAMC, however since relocating to the SEC I was unfortuantely not able to get to know Angela well. I however had the opportunity of meeting her better at a mutual friends' wedding and she was very welcoming and had a personality that led you to want to get to know her better. Like so many others, when I think of Angela I think of that bubbly personality and that smile that would light up a room. You couldn't help but be happy when you were with her.

I met Angela when she was an intern at the VA. We clicked instantly and I joked I'd never get any work done on the days she was there working with me because we'd talk so much.

She had a big heart and lived her life in a way that makes me want to be a better person. She will certainly be missed. My heart and condolences go out to her family and to her sweet puppy, Emma Jean, who she loved so much.

I think we were juniors in high school. We were riding in a car pulling of a parking lot and I started singing Mr. Jones by the Counting Crows - she told me I had a really good voice... for that song anyway :) Doesn't matter, 13 years later, every time that song comes on, I sing it and I'm pretty sure she's the reason why. She also introduced me to Dennis Leary and "coffee flavored coffee" skit with Anna K. I'm still a fan of his today. I haven't seen her since high school, but her footprint is still so large.

May your family find comfort with each other and through God in this time of need. I'm so very sorry.

I met Angela while at Phoenix Interfaith when we were in the same residency class. I spent most Wednesdays with her for an entire year and have so many fond memories: her laugh, her smile, her love of Oprah, stories about her precious Emma, and her infectious enthusiasm for life. Angela was an inspiration to me in that she was always courageous in speaking her mind, to her clients, to her supervisors and to her colleagues. I am deeply saddened by her loss but I am certain her spirit will live on in all of us whose lives she touched.

My deepest sympathy is extended to the Sacco family. I had the privilege of being Angela's tennis coach when she was in high school. Even after 12 years, I can still clearly hear her voice and her laugh. I remember so many times she would call me over to talk during a crossover. This was not necessarily to talk about her match, but to just chat or check in on how her teammates were doing. We usually both left smiling and laughing. She was a natural leader, a wonderful teammate, and a good friend to others. She had great maturity for her age, but also the ability to get down-right silly. She was just a pleasure to be around. Heaven has certainly gained a beautiful angel.

What I--and I gather so many others--feel right now is difficult to put into words. I will forever remember Ang for her electrifying smile and contagious laugh, which seems to be a commonality among those who had the privilege of meeting her. I regret that I can't attend the service, but I sincerely hope that the Sacco family can find strength in their collective memories to get through this trying time. Ang, my friend, will never be forgotten; those who knew you will make sure of that.

i'm so sorry for your loss. Your family has always held special SMCC memories for me. Angela always seemed to spark not only smiles around herself but also patience. She will be missed.
The snow in LaSalle will keep me away from visiting but I am sending a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in her name. Hopefully, Nick and my 2 year old grandson Gavin will benefit from JDRF research.

I taught all four Sacco children at SMCC and each left their own impression. Jessica was the oldest, so I remember her as being supportive during my early years of teaching, friendly and outgoing. Tiffany had a very generous heart and sweet personality. Nick always made me laugh. And Angela, as most everyone has mentioned, had that contagious smile and laugh. Once someone graduates from our school, we still view them as part of our family......which is why the loss of Angela is so difficult for all of us. My heart goes out to the entire family. I worked with Angela at the VA. This memory of Angela has come to my mind often in the past couple of years. I was ordering vegetables from an organic farm for delivery and every time kale was on the list I made a substitution. One day in the office there was a discussion going on about salad. I'm not sure who Angela was talking to, but suddenly I heard her exclaim, "Oh, I just love Kale!" She was just so animated in that one statement about that leafy green vegetable that I knew I had to give it a try. I did and quite often when I am adding it to my soup or salad, I hear Angela say, "Oh, I just love Kale!" and I have a little chuckle.

I would like to pass on to you yet another story about Angela's smile. I was at the coffee cart and the young ladies working there asked me which Social Worker it was that passed away. I told them it was Angela. They didn't recognize her name, but when I started to describe her curly hair, they both looked at me and asked, "The girl with the big smile?" They mentioned the flash mob that Angela had organized and passed along their condolences to our department, which I am passing on to you.

My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Angela will be missed, but thought of often, by many.

Angela was first a coworker at Mayo Thunderbird, then a great friend. She was always the cheerleader, the cruise director, the moral compass. We had such good times together. She was at my house one night to show everyone how to make homemade pizza. She also convalesced at my house for five days after having foot surgery. My spare bedroom was unfortunately upstairs, so that was a bit of a challenge, but we managed it with laughter ( and some pain pills). We loved to exchange recipes too. I got her gooey chocolate chip bars recipe and she got my apple crisp recipe. I had lunch with Angela about ten weeks ago and then we went shopping together. That was the last time I saw her. I wish I could go back to that day and tell her just how much she meant to me. I remember telling her how great she looked and"where did you get that dress?" (Old Navy) and "how do you keep your skin so beautiful?" She was an amazing person. My heart is heavy with sadness.

I worked at Big Boy downtown when Tony and Mary Sacco started THEIR beautiful family. I worked there from. 1981 THRU 1985. Tiffany's was their first pizzeria next door. I watched throughout the years as Mary& Tony were blessed to have three other precious babies as Tiffany was their oldest. I loved how they came in the restaurant two to three times daily. I loved playing and holding each beautiful baby. These Sacco children had the best manners and Tony and Mary were such loving parents. I'll never forget me leaving Big Boy to finish College and work two jobs to pay for my education. In 1986 as I was waiting tables at Quotro's. Mary, Tony and all the kids came in especially to see me. They were leaving for Italy the next day. I was humbled that they cared enough to come eat dinner, sit in my section and just to say hi and how things were GOING with me. The kids had grown into children with manners and politeness. We visited for hours as they ate THEIR dinner.

The death of Angela absolutely breaks my heart. I had the privilege of teaching Angela in the second grade. Angela always had a smile. She had a contagious laugh which when I heard you couldn't help but laugh with her! I remember when I would take my boys over to the Sacco's pool in the summer and they would all have such a great time together! My heart is aching for all of you, Tony, Mary, Jess, Nick, and Tiffany. I had the pleasure of getting to know Angela when I worked with her at Mayo Clinic over five years ago. I remember that she loved the saying, live, laugh love. I have since moved from PHX but I have always thought of her when I saw this saying wherever I was, whether I was ten miles away or 5,000. I was inspired by the passion that she had brought to the social work profession. I was inspired about how she sought out her dreams. I am so saddened to learn of her passing. It is so hard to for me to believe it. I can’t help but echo the words that have already been said here, an inspiration, a contagious smile and laugh, one who lights up a room, joy, I could go on and on. Angela is the kind of soul that you remember for a lifetime. She was one special lady! In honor of you, Angela, I found an Oprah quote that reminds me of all of the people that you touched in your young life and how special every moment truly is. “Living in the moment brings you a sense of reverence of all of life’s blessings.” May you continue to shine in heaven. You will be forever missed, Angela.

At one point in my life, Angie was my best friend. We went to prom together and we used to just drive around listening to music and talking about life. She was selfless and always thought about everyone's problems over her own. She embodied the concept of a true friend. She treated me and others around me better than any of us could ever treat her. Every one keeps saying the same thing: Her smile and laugh. They are right. It was contagious and infectious. We drifted apart over the years but we had made plans to re-connect this past week. How I wish I had just another chance to experience life more vibrant and just maybe one more laugh. This hits hard and heavy as many others have expressed. My thoughts and prayers. I am deeply saddened and shocked to hear of Angela's untimely passing. I met Angela over five years ago at Mayo Clinic Hospital when she was working as one of our secretaries in Patient Family Support Services now called Care Management. She started working on her MSW soon after. It was during this time Angela became my first social work student. Angela was a quick learner and very intelligent. She told me her hopes and dreams and the direction she wanted to go in social work. She was very interested in running group therapy. I mentored Angela and pointed her in the direction of the Phoenix VAMC. She later got an internship there and was subsequently hired. Angela and I received our Mayo Clinic Hospital five year service award together in 2011. I would often joke with her and say "You better stay here for another five years with me so we can get our ten year award together." I can still hear her infectious loud laugh. Angela worked full-time at the Phoenix VAMC and also remained on weekends at Mayo Clinic hospital. Anytime I saw her name on the weekend schedule I would think to myself, we are going to have a great day because Ang is here. I often ate lunch with Angela where we made time to catch up and check in with one another. I recall alot of her VA stories and I was so proud of her accomplishments. Angela had recently bought her first home. She was an ambitious go-getter doing exactly what she was meant to do. Angela had an emotional and spiritual gift of listening. My sincere condolences to the Sacco Family. May the love of family and friends sustain you in these difficult days. Rest in peace my dear friend. We will eat lunch again on the other side. I will miss you immensely.

To understand the life of Angela Sacco, is to understand the triumph of the human spirit. Her marvelous sense of humor never failed her.
It is unthinkable to us that she is gone. She was so much a part of social work, a part of the VA, so much a part of our lives. Now, that vibrant presence has departed, and we are left to mourn our loss of her even as we celebrate her life through our wonderful memories of her. I heard a comment the other day how hard this is on her family, yes, the loss they are feeling is beyond what I can imagine, but the way Angela treated people, everyone was family.
She focused on the consolation and comfort of others. Angela had so many amazing qualities, but she had one quality that most captured my admiration and affection – her courage. She had the courage to change her life when it wasn't going in the direction she thought it should be going. She had the courage to confront Veterans, though she did it with warmth and love. She had the courage to confront her Chief. She had the courage to express her feelings. She had the courage to dance.
As we end this year and begin of another, try to do so by Angela's example. As you walk down our halls or wherever you work among the paths and trails that our Veterans walk, see the beauty in them that she loved. But as you do, remember — she also loved her co-workers. And remember this; the last thing Angela would want would be for you to have her death impact you in a negative way. Quite the opposite she would want you would become more courageous by her lessons, more adventuresome, to take more risks and to experience life to the fullest. To cry hard, but then to laugh even harder.
Angela Sacco — with a smile that could melt the coldest heart — was here to show us how to work with others, to be part of a team and to also be authentic as a human being.
She served and saw the beauty in our Veterans and the beauty in us — and right down to the end of her short and way too brief life, she inspired us to serve, too.

I met Angela while working at Mayo when she was in the middle of her Graduate Studies. Her vibrancy and spontaneity made for a great partner in crime. I enjoyed her fantastic company while lounging in the pool with Emma, eating brunch or fawning over the newest Michael Kors bags. One of the last times we shared pizza together we spoke of how fun it would be to plan a "pizza tour" of Italy and possibly persuade her Dad to buy a house there. The sparkle in her eye while devising such plans and beautiful smile will certainly be missed. Angela had such an amazing awareness for others and good head on her shoulders which made one so glad to have her as a friend. She never ceased to amaze me with her accomplishments, plans for the future and go get ‘em attitude. Although I have lost a dear friend and true confidante I am forever thankful for the time she blessed us with as a true Angel. Her spirit touched so many and will not be forgotten. My heart goes out to her parents who must have recognized the gift that she was the instant she was born and named her so appropriately and to her brother, sisters and niece who she cherished deeply.

As a friend of Tiffany, I was able to see the close bond of sisterhood that she and Ang shared. Their love and laughter fill my memories when I remember Angela. No doubt she is sharing her beautiful smile in Heaven. My thoughts and prayers are with the Sacco family and all mourning this painful loss, until we all are reunited again. God grant His peace.

I met Angela while working at the VA in Phoenix. I had the privlidge to sit in on 2 weeks of the groups she led as a social worker here at the hospital. Angela connected with her Vets in a way that was really special. It was such a joy to see her talents in action, and I learned from her. She smiled warmly, laughed genuinely and was so patient and kind. She was a great social worker. The Vets she helped really needed somebody like her to help them find a healthy path in life. She gave them the gift of wellness through partnership and encouragement. She was so full of energy and had a positive glow about her. Her smile made you want to smile, too. The work she did with others has impacted many lives in a way that will continue to help the world. Angela will be remembered as someone who was warm, genuine, funny, intelligent, professional, dedicated, and hard working. She was very well liked by our Vets and staff and will be missed by many. My prayers and hope for peace and comfort go out to Angela's family and friends.

I've known Angela the entire time I worked at the VA; when she was a student and then add an employee. She always had the brightest smile, the biggest heart, and boundless positivity. She inspired me, as she inspired many others, with her winning attitude.

Angela talked me into doing the VA employee boot camp and almost talked me into joining the Halloween Thriller dance flash mob she planned and executed because her fun attitude was so infectious. If ever there was someone I would have wanted to spend time with outside of work, it was Angela.

I honestly cannot believe, still today, that she is gone. As a father myself, my heart goes out to her family. Words simply cannot express the sadness of the loss of Angela....

I didn't know Angela well..I had a couple classes with her in grad school and I always remembered her being cheerful and friendly and she seemed passionate about helping people. I had the good fortune of reconnecting with her recently through my good friend, Jenn. I was able to spend some time with her doing things she loved-running and hiking. I was and still am shocked to hear of her passing. My heart and my thoughts remain with her family and her friends during this difficult time.

I was blessed with being Angela's co-worker in the PRRC this past year. We shared an office starting last December on the 5th floor of the VA here in Phoenix and our desks were next to each other after the PRRC started up in its present location. I was always amazed at her kind, positive attitude. She was always willing to help. I remember when she set her fitness goals last winter and watched her over this past year meet her goals which truly impressed me. I started eating string cheese and ham at work because of her LOL.

From the opening of the PRRC, Angela and I co-facilitated the social skills group. I have memories of several very rewarding moments when she and I engaged clients in therapy work.

I'll never forget watching her doing the Thriller Dance in the middle of the cafeteria. What I noticed was how happy she looked!

She asked me to edit an email she was composing Friday Dec, 20th. She was excited about going home and her future. This is the last memory I have of her.

I will always remember Angela.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Angela's passing. I did not work with her very closely but we had a few patients together who had challenging social situations (it seems every time she was on, we would have a challenge together). She was so good at her job that even the toughest social difficulty was something she could manage and she was always so pleasant about it with her amazing smile. She had lost quite a bit of weight recently and was looking amazing! She was so proud of her accomplishment! We will miss her at Mayo Clinic. I had the wonderful pleasure of working with Angie on one or two occasions at the Mayo Clinic, She was so positive and loved what she did. She shared tips on stress relief and homeopathic remedies. When I think of Ang, I think of her smile, laughter and genuine heart for others ... and her love for all things Oprah. You have touched more lives than you know, Ang.

Since meeting her on our first day of kindergarten, she was always the most cheerful energetic beautiful woman that always thought of others before herself. She will forever be in my childhood memories. Love and prayers to you all.

I met Angela when I started at the Phoenix VA. She was always available to answer any crazy question I had. I will always remember her beautiful smile, her vibrant personality, her caring heart, and her infectious laugh. Angela truly epitomizes what it is to have a beautiful, loving spirit. May you rest in peace Angela. We here at the Phoenix VA will truly miss you. My condolences to the Sacco family.

Angela was only a few weeks old when I had the pleasure of caring for her and Jessica. She was the sweetest child who grew up to be a beautiful women inside and out. Working with her in 2006 at the Spa was such a pleasure. To see this sweet girl who became the most caring human. She was a pleasure.. Tony and Mary raised an amazing family. I am proud to know them all! God Bless You all

I will never forget how she recruited so many friends (with little/no tennis skill) to join the SMCC Tennis Team because it would be more fun! Heck, she even recruited me to intern at the Tigers with her! Ang had a way to inspire, motivate and excite anyone around her! She was an amazing friend, tennis partner, co-captain and partner-in-crime to me. Always remembered by her smile and laughter.

Angela will be missed by so many of us at the VA. She has been so important in delivering therapy to our vets. She has made doing DBT a delight and something to look forward to. I will miss your smiling face and having you stop by my door on the way to consultation each Thursday and DBT group on Fridays. You made the VA brighter...Thank you!

I met Angela at Mayo Hospital. I told her my goal was to get hired at the VA. She told me, "I will get you in there" and when I was hired she made sure I felt welcome. My hearts breaks for her family and they are in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you Angela for being such a good person, friend and social worker! Heaven is lucky to have you :-).

Such a beautiful girl! I met Angie when she came to our cabin in 8th grade. Heaven has a beautiful angel to watch over all of us.
