Warren P. Massingill

Warren P. Massingill, 87 years, of Erie, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 23, 2015 in his home. Born May 29, 1927 in Middlesboro, Kentucky, Warren was the son of the late Ernest E. and Gracie (Sharp) Massingill. He attended Lincoln Elementary School. On September 7, 1947 Warren married his beloved wife, the former Nettie Jean Timberlake in Middlesboro. Warren served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. He worked for Monroe Auto Equipment as a test press operator for 17 years, where he served as union steward with local 878, and as a precision grinder for Dana Corporation in Toledo for 25 years, where he served as union steward with local 12. He retired in 1985. Warren was a member of Stewart Road Church of God. He enjoyed woodworking, collecting coins and deer hunting. He was also an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. Most of all he enjoyed time spent with family. Warren is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Jean, eight loving children: Richard (Patty) A. Massingill of Vine Grove KY, Timothy W. (Joann) Massingill of Toledo, OH, Joey E. (Shari) Massingill of Luna Pier, MI, Cathy L. (Chuck) Stark - Hawley of East Jordan, MI, Jacki S. Kehr of Temperance, MI, Sally A. (Floyd) Martin of LaSalle, MI, Julie L. (McDonald) Massingill of Erie, MI and Jeannie E. (Bob) Yonkee of Erie, MI, 18 cherished grandchildren, 18 treasured great grandchildren, two cherished great great grandchildren and two brothers: Rondle (Barbara) Massingill of Frankfort, KY and Lewis Massingill of Chattanooga, TN. In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by a grandson: Luke Yonkee, son in law Bob Kehr, two brothers: Walter and Ulas, and five sisters: Iris Smith, Anthony Blakemore, Dallie Wilson, Inez Johnson, and Maxine Tolbert. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 2-8 PM at the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., 48161 where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Sally A. Martin, Warren’s daughter, will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Music Department at Stewart Road Church of God.
