Vaughn Nunn

Vaughn A. Nunn, age 57 of Newport, MI. passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at 6:30 AM in his home surrounded by his loving family. Vaughn had been in poor health for 9 months. Vaughn was born August 22, 1949 in Monroe, MI. the son of the late Homer C. and Molly Mae (Allen) Nunn. Vaughn served his country in the US Army from October 20, 1967 to October 12, 1970 serving 2 tours of duty. He first served in Phu Lam in Korea and then to Vietnam. In Vietnam Vaughn served as an office repairman in the Crypto Department. For his service Vaughn received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Military Merit Award. On December 15, 1972 Vaughn married his beloved wife Linda D. (Sommers) in Monroe, MI. Vaughn was employed as a Truck Driver by Mason Dixon Trucking in Warren, MI. Vaughn also worked in construction for Laborer’s Local 465 in Monroe. Vaughn was a member of Donald M. Squire VFW Post 3943 in Newport. Vaughn enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and bar-b-cuing. Vaughn is survived by his beloved wife Linda D., 3 loving daughters; Jody R. (Adam) Scaggs of Newport, MI, Cathy J. Nunn of Toledo, OH, and Carrie L. (Andrew) Nunn-LeRoy of LaSalle, 8 cherished grandchildren, 3 brothers; David W. (Sandy) Nunn of Coldwater, MI., Roy Nunn of Monroe, MI. and Gary L. Nunn of Florida. 5 sisters; Louise Burton of Pontiac, MI., Irene Kelley of Monroe, MI, Peggy LeCurgo of Coldwater, MI, Susie Ward of Jellico, TN, and Mickie (Wayne) Nunn of Monroe, MI, 2 half brothers; Ronnie (Cora) Nunn of Novi, MI, and Jeff Nunn of Monroe, MI, and a half sister Sara (Ray) Leach of Toledo, OH. In addition to his parents Vaughn was preceded in death by his grandson Anthony “Dink” Govan and 3 siblings. Visitation for Vaughn will be held on Wednesday from 2-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home where funeral services celebrating his life will be held Thursday, December 14, 2006 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. James Jacobs Chaplain of Mercy Memorial Hospital will officiate. Following the funeral services The VFW Monroe Post 1138 will honor Vaughn with a military service. The family wishes memorial contributions be given to the Disabled American Veterans.
