Ruth DeLisle

Ruth Evelyn DeLisle, 91 years of Monroe, MI, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at The Kingston Care Center in Sylvania, OH. Born February 10, 1921 in Monroe, MI, Ruth was the daughter of the late Francis P. and Isabelle (Venior) Ready. Ruth was baptized and confirmed at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She attended St. John’s Catholic School and St. Mary’s Academy. She transferred to Monroe High School from which she graduated in 1938. On April 15, 1939, Ruth married her beloved husband John H. DeLisle. During WWII Ruth was worked at a defense plant near Monroe and later as a catalog sales specialist at Sears Roebuck and Company in Monroe. Ruth was also a wonderful homemaker. Ruth spent most of her life in Monroe, except for seven years, when she and John moved to Hartwell, GA, for Monroe Auto Equipment. While in Hartwell, Ruth along with John were active in developing an activities center for teenagers, called “Teen Town”. Ruth was very civic minded and gave back to the Monroe Community in many ways. She was very active in the Monroe Thrift Shop, one of many local charities she was involved in. Ruth was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, and a former member of the Monroe Golf and Country Club. She and John enjoyed spending winters at their home in Jensen Beach, FL, where Ruth was active in the women’s club and enjoyed playing Bocce Ball. She also enjoyed playing tennis and golf. Ruth is survived by her beloved husband of 73 years, John, two loving children: Frank P. (Susan) DeLisle of Indianapolis, IN and Carol A. (Jerry) Fuller of Sylvania, OH and Jensen Beach, FL, a daughter in law Sheryl Moreno of Monroe, a son in law Dale Parker of South Carolina, a brother: William (Suzanne) Ready of Mio, MI, 12 cherished grandchildren: David Yates, Anne (William) Beckman, James (Amy) DeLisle, William Parker III, Theresa (James) Holland, Christy Parker, Greg (Lessa) Yates, Jeffery (Amanda) Fuller, Jason (Polly) Yates, Brian (Melissa) Fuller, Patrick (Katie) DeLisle, Haleigh DeLisle, 18 treasured great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by a son John H. DeLisle, Jr., two daughters: Marilyn Spence and Diane Parker, a granddaughter: Debbie, a brother: James Ready and two sisters: Margaret Richter and Mary Joye. On Tuesday, December 18, 2012, Ruth will lie in state at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Monroe from 9:30 AM until Mass of the Resurrection, celebrating her life at 11:00 AM. Fr. Stephen Vileo, pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church will officiate. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. John The Baptist Catholic Church or the Monroe Thrift Shop. The Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe, is assisting Ruth’s family with funeral arrangements.
