Myrtle M. Prewitt

Myrtle M. Prewitt, 88 years, of Monroe, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Medilodge of Monroe. Born October 13, 1926 in Rockhold, Kentucky, Myrtle was the daughter of the late Arthur and Linva Rose. The family moved to Monroe in 1942. Myrtle attended school in Corbin, Kentucky and was a graduate of Monroe High School’s Adult Education Program in 1974. On April 13, 1946 Myrtle married her beloved husband Ralph E. Prewitt in Toledo, Ohio. Sadly he preceded her in death on June 15, 1996 after 50 years of marriage. Myrtle was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses Organization and worked for many years as a regular full time Pioneer. She was also a sign language translator for the Kingdom Hall and for large conventions for the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Myrtle worked as a nurses aide for both Beach Nursing Home and The Lutheran Home and part time at The Earle Little Funeral Home, now Bacarella Funeral Home, in Monroe for several years. Myrtle enjoyed sewing, gardening and time spent with family, especially her grand and great grandchildren who brought her so much joy. Myrtle is survived by three loving children: Eddie L. (Diane) Prewitt of Monroe, Betty L. Beeler of Monroe and Barbara A. (Jack) Strum of Winter Springs, FL, seven cherished grandchildren: Brian K. Beeler, Dawn M. Lambert, Denise M. (Prewitt) Cicero, Cathy R. (Prewitt) Ferraiuolo, Terri L. (Charles) Hammill, II, Matthew E. (Ashley) Prewitt, and Jeffrey A. (Paige) Prewitt, 18 treasured great grandchildren, three adored great great grandchildren and three sisters: Marie Prewitt of Port Huron, MI, IvyLou Harris of Trenton, MI and Irene Hinkle of Corbin, KY. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Myrtle was preceded in death by three brothers: Lawrence, Arnold, and Onza Rose, and a son in law Ron Beeler. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 - 7 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI, 48161 where funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions are suggested to World Wide Work of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
