John "Frank" Shinevarre

John F. “Frank” Shinevarre, 67 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, MI went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 9:15 AM at Medilodge of Monroe with his family at his side. He had been in declining health for the past year. Born January 6, 1946 in Monroe, Frank was the son of the late John H. and Ethel Rose (Gillenkirk) Shinevarre. Frank attended Monroe Public Schools. Frank served his country honorably and proudly as a Corporal in the US Marine Corps. Frank served from May 26, 1965 until May 11, 1971, serving three tours of duty in Vietnam. For his service Frank received the National Defense, and the Vietnam Service Medal with 8 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with palm and frame and the Meritorious Unit Commendation. On June 19, 1987 Frank married the former Josephine Bianco in Monroe. Frank was employed as an assembler for Mazda, Auto Alliance in Flat Rock, MI for 17 years from which he retired in 2002. Frank was a member of Monroe Alliance Church and a Life Member of VFW Post 1138 in Monroe. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, working in his yard and playing with the kids. More than anything Frank loved his family. Frank is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 26 years, Josephine, three loving children: James E. (Christine) Bishop of Menifee, CA, Joseph W. (Debra) Bishop of Monroe, and Christopher (Lianne) Bishop of Portage, IN, six cherished grandchildren: Justeen, Serina, Antonio, Alex, Christopher and Seth, four treasured great grandchildren: Jacob, Steven, Dominic and Lillianna, two brothers: Larry (Judy) Shinevarre of Monroe, Robert (Shirley) Shinevarre of Annville, KY, a sister: Bonnie Neil of Monroe and a sister in law Brenda Shinevarre of Monroe. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by a sister Mary Lou Miller and a brother David. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe, where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM. The Rev.’s Mark Blake and Nils Saunders, pastors of Monroe Alliance Church, will officiate. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe.
