Gerald Pearch

Gerald L. Pearch, 77 years, of Monroe, MI went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 28, 2011. Jerry was born September 9, 1933 in Monroe, MI the son to the late H. Glenn and Dorothy (Staneart) Pearch. He was a graduate of Monroe High School. Jerry enlisted the US Air Force during the Korean War on February 11, 1952 and served his country honorably and proudly until his separation from service on February 10, 1956. For his dedicated service to our country Jerry received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. On October 22, 1960, Jerry married his beloved wife, the former Norma Jean Gardner at First Baptist Church in Monroe. Sadly, she passed away on March 12 of this year. Norma and Jerry were truly soul mates and it may be said that Jerry died of a broken heart as his love for her was eternal. Jerry worked for Ford Motor Company’s Monroe Plant for 30 years until his retirement on November 1, 1987. Jerry was a member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church and a former member of First Baptist Church and Redeemer Fellowship Church. While at Redeemer Fellowship Jerry served as Deacon and an Usher. Jerry loved being outdoors. He especially enjoyed yard work and tending to his vegetables and flowers. He also enjoyed fishing and fixing things. He was known as Mr. Fix It to his family and friends. Most of all Jerry loved his family. Jerry is survived by his 3 loving children; Julie L. (Robert) Colton of Plymouth, MI, Gregory L. (Bettina) Pearch and Thomas G. Pearch of Monroe, 8 cherished grandchildren; Eric, Steven, Adrianna, Anthony, Brittany, Braelyn, Chynna and Kaleigh, 1 brother Richard Pearch of Ludington, MI, 2 sisters; Carole (Ronald) Schuster of S. Rockwood, MI, Bonnie (James) Neidhart of Fairborn, OH and his faithful dog Sandy. In addition to his parents and beloved wife of 50 years Norma, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother Robert. Jerry’s family will greet friends on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, from 1:00 PM until a Memorial Service celebrating his life at 2:00 PM. The Rev. Roy Southerland will officiate. Memorial contributions are suggested to Monroe Missionary Baptist Church. The Bacarella Funeral Home is assisting Jerry’s family with funeral arrangements.
