Francesco "Frank" Pezzino

Francesco “Frank” Pezzino, 78, of Monroe, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the IHM Health Care Center in Monroe. Born September 18, 1937 in Borgetto, Sicily, Frank was the son of the late Onorato and Guisappina (Soresi) Pezzino. Frank attended school in Borgetto and served in the Italian military for 18 months. He moved to Monroe in 1961 from Borgetto. On July 6, 1961 Frank married his beloved wife, the former Benedetta “Betty” Mignano at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Borgetto, the same church where he was baptized and confirmed. Frank was employed as a concrete mason for his brother in law, Sam Mignano Construction, for Francis Angelo and Sons and for Ford Motor Company in Monroe. He retired from Ford in 2002. Frank was a member of St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church in Monroe, The U.A.W. Local 723, and the Madonna del Ponte in Detroit. He enjoyed gardening, watching and playing soccer, and spending the winters at his home in Sicily. Most of all Frank will be remembered as a hard working man who loved time spent with family. Frank is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty, three sons: twins: Arnold F. (Carolyn) Pezzino of Millbury, OH, and Anthony J. Pezzino of Monroe and Frank (Wendy K.) Pezzino, Jr., of Temperance, MI, twelve cherished grandchildren: Jerry (Diana), Simone, Frank, Anthony, Giovanni (Lindsay), Dominique, Francesco, Marissa, Isabella, Dominic, Bianca, and Francesca, two treasured great grandchildren: Jordan and Isaac and five sisters: Julia Furnari of Maspeth, NY, Giovanna (Guiseppe) D’Amico of Borgetto, Sicily, Rita (Francesco) Randazzo of Corsica, France, Maria Pezzino of Corsica, France and Nina (Angelo) Amorello of Borgetto, Sicily. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by a son, Salvatore and a brother, Pietro. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-8 PM at the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. Monroe, MI 48161 where a Scripture Service will be held at 6 PM. On Monday, October 12, 2015 prayers will be held at the funeral home at 9:30 AM with a procession to St. Michael the Archangel Church for Mass of the Resurrection celebrating Frank’s life at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe.
