Eston Weiss

Eston H. Weiss, 91 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, MI, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 10:43 PM in the Lutheran Home. Born April 16, 1922 in Monroe, Eston was the son of the late Herman H.W. Harry and Thilba (Wright) Weiss. Eston served his country honorably and proudly during WWII in the US Army. Eston served from 1943 – 1945. Eston served in the European and Pacific Theaters. For his service to country Eston received the Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Battle Stars, and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 5 overseas Service Bars. On October 9, 1948 Eston married his beloved wife, the former Delia Norma Reinhardt, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Monroe. Sadly, Delia preceded him in death on March 8, 1985 after 36 years of marriage. Eston began his career as an assembler for Weis Manufacturing where he worked for 23 years. He then went to work for La Z Boy Chair Company, from which he retired in 1983. Eston was a long time member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. Eston enjoyed his time as a Cub and Boy Scout Leader and served as a Scout Master for Troop #27, which was sponsored by Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. Most of all Eston was a family man. He is survived by his loving son and daughter in law Mark E. and Vicki L. Weiss of Jackson, MI. In addition to his parents and wife, Eston was preceded in death by three brothers: Kenneth, Eldon and Dale and one sister Wiletta Kamprath. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-5 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI, 48161. On Monday, July 29, 2013 he will lie in state at The Lutheran Home Chapel from 9:00 AM until funeral services celebrating his life at 10:00 AM . The Rev. John Schinkel, Chaplain of The Lutheran Home, will officiate. Interment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to The Lutheran Home Activities Fund, Promedica Erie West Hospice Foundation, or to a Veterans organization of the donors choosing.
