C. Lorraine (Wilcox) Diroff

C. Lorraine (Wilcox) Diroff, 92 years, of Monroe, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at the I.H.M. Care Center in Monroe. Born July 11, 1923 in Mitchell, South Dakota, Lorraine was the daughter of the late Frank A. and Charlotte Mae (Warner) Summers. She attended School in Mitchell, South Dakota and was a 1942 graduate of Mitchell High School. On November 26, 1943, Lorraine married Allen H. Wilcox, from Monroe, Michigan, in Redwood City, California. A WWII Veteran, Allen was injured in the war and Lorraine cared for him until his death on April 16, 1957. On May 7, 1960 Lorraine married Donald L. Diroff at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ida, Michigan. Sadly, he too preceded her in death on September 19, 2004. Along with her husband, Lorraine owned and operated Diroff’s Deacon Jones Restaurant in Monroe for 17 years, retiring in 1978. Lorraine was a member of St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church in Monroe and a life member of The Order of Eastern Star, of which she served as its Worthy Matron in 1960. Lorraine enjoyed quilting, cooking and spending winters at her home in Plant City, Florida. While living in Plant City, she was a member of St. Clements Catholic Church. Lorraine also had a home at Lake LeAnn, in the Irish Hills of Michigan, where she loved spending her summers. Most of all Lorraine enjoyed time spent with her family. She is survived by nine loving children: Donald D. (Karon) Diroff of LaSalle, Sharon J. (Zeke) Jabbour of Boca Raton, FL, Sandra M. Dimeff of Monroe, Angela S. (Tim) Gorno of Lititz, PA, Jo Anne (Larry) Lynch of Monroe, MI, Allen H. (Jan) Wilcox II of Monroe, Luann M. (Tom) Souva of Monroe, Gregory J. (Maria) Diroff of Pottenstein, Germany, Douglas S. (Corrine) Diroff of Monroe, 28 cherished grandchildren, 52 treasured great grandchildren and 2 treasured great great grandchildren, and two sisters: Donna Clustka of Reno, NV and Clara Blackburn of Sioux Falls, SD. In addition to her parents and husbands, Lorraine was preceded in death by a son, Roger Diroff, 2 son in laws, Doug Dimeff and Ed Barton, a granddaughter, Jill Cleary, and a great granddaughter, Devon Guy. Visitation will be held from 1-8 PM on Monday, December 21, at the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe. On Tuesday, December 22, she will lie in state at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church from 9 AM until Mass of the Resurrection celebrating her life at 10 AM. Fr. Philip Chang, pastor of the church will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Ida, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Children of Fallen Heroes Relief Fund, P.O. Box, 3968 Gaithersburg, MD 20885-3968.
