B. Pauline Gonser

B. Pauline (Cantrell) Gonser, age 79, of Monroe, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 3, 2018 at FountainView of Monroe. She was born on September 24, 1938 at Paynesville, West Virginia. She was the daughter of James and Orpha (Horn) Cantrell. She was a teacher at Jefferson Schools for 5 years and at Monroe Public Schools for over 21 years. She married Richard V. Gonser on June 3, 1961 at Calvary United Methodist Church in Monroe. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1956 and graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor degree and also a master degree. She is a member of the First Baptist Church in Monroe; the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel; lifetime member of Michigan Education Association and the National Education Association; the Monroe County Quilt Guild; sew Sassy Ladies; Sugar River Quilters. She was a past member of the BlueBird Council; Youth Leader at the First Baptist Church,; National Math Teachers Association; Michigan Math Teachers Association; Mercy Memorial Hospital Guild; Alpha-Delta Kappa (Educational Sorority). Her hobbies included reading, Bible Study Groups; Quilting, family activities and travelling. She is survived by her husband Richard; daughters; Penny (Robert) Humphrey of Lakeland, FL; Jill (Dan) Dunkel of Port Huron, MI; and Amy (Scott) Vanisacker of Newport, grandchildren; Justin Sheffield, Sarah and Kirsten Vanisacker and Charles Dunkel, step granddaughters; Brandi and Alexis Dunkel and Tracy (Scott) Jacobs, stepgrandsons; Chriss and Jonathan (Michelle) Dunkel, step great-greatgrandchildren; Ashley, Shelby and Colby Jacobs; 3 sisters; Beulah (James) Wyant of Mount Vernon, OH, Linda Williams of Columbus, OH, and Loretta Powonder of Norwalk, OH. She was preceded in death by a brother Larry Cantrell, in laws; Harrison and Grace (McCrea) Gonser and brother in law Mac Gonser. In accordance with her wishes cremation has been held and there will not be public visitation. A memorial service in her honor will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Monroe. Officiating will be Rev. Gaylen Lowery, retired pastor of the church. Inurnment of Cremains will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle. Memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church or to FountainView.
