Raymond J. Reau

Raymond J. Reau, age 85 of Temperance, formerly of Monroe, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Friday, May 21st at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. Born December 9, 1935 in Deerfield, MI, Ray was the son of the late Lawrence and Eldenia (Bushroe) Reau. On October 6, 1956, he married Carol A. Phelan at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Together, they raised seven children. She preceded him in death on July 24, 2010. A Pipefitter by trade, Ray was employed by APDA, American Power Development Association, for many years, and finished his career as a maintenance worker at Complete Packaging. Ray was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance, a former member of St. John Catholic Church, and a former Scoutmaster. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, was a sports buff, and an avid Detroit Tigers Baseball fan. Ray is survived by his children: Cynthia (Kevin) Beauman of Temperance, Glenn (Rene) Reau of Temperance, Gregg (Brenda) Reau of Monroe, Richard (Jennifer) Reau of Monroe, Lindsay (Tammy) Reau of Katy, TX, Heidi (Thomas) Snarey of Oakwood, GA, and Cory (Dana) Reau of Monroe; 17 grandchildren: Sarah Richmond, Noah Beauman, Amber Hotary, Kyle Reau, Gabby Reau, Eric Reau, Ashley Wszelaki, Sydney Reau, Courtney Holcombe, Camden Reau, Cassidy Reau, Stephen Reau, Ryan Reau, Kasey Moore, Anna Snarey, Sean Snarey, and Zachary Kolberg; and 23 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife Carol, Ray was also preceded in death by an infant son, Dennis Michael Reau; granddaughter, Katie Carrabino; and great-grandson, Brandon Michael Reau. Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bacarella Funeral Home. Ray will lie in state at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John Catholic Church. Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. David Burgard followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. The Reau family would like to acknowledge the staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio, especially Donna, for the care and compassion given to their father.
