Pam Pollzzie

Pam Pollzzie of Orlando, FL passed away Friday, Nov. 27, 2015. Born April 21, 1947 in Detroit, Mich., Pam was the daughter of the late John E. Pascoe and Dolores (Jean) DeLamarter. She married Charles Pollzzie in Plymouth, Mich., on July 17, 1970. Pam earned a bachelor’s degree in early elementary education from Eastern Michigan University. She began her teaching career in 1970 as a kindergarten teacher in Livonia, MI at Hull Elementary School. A few years later she taught in the Bellevue School System near Battle Creek, MI. As Pam and her family moved around the country, she was very active in community volunteer work in Orlando, Northern New Jersey and in Frederick, Md., including at the Ronald McDonald House in Orlando and the Basilica of the Shrine of Mary Queen of the Universe, also in Orlando. While living in Sparta, N.J., she was involved with Birth Haven¬–Shelter and Hope for Young Mothers as well as Newton Memorial Hospital and the Sparta High School Varsity Boosters Club. Pam had a strong faith in God and was the kind of person who saw people beyond appearances and accepted others just as they were, without any judgment. Those in her life respected her for her genuine interest and compassion for where they were in their lives. She always knew what to say and made those around her feel comfortable. Pam’s work at Birth Haven was of particular interest to her. At the home, she helped young mothers learn how to become more responsible and independent as they raised their children. Pam was looked up to among family due to her kind, loving nature and gentle presence. She exuded grace and class yet always was humble, selfless and took joy in the little things in life. Pam is survived by her husband, Charles Pollzzie, of Orlando; two sons, Chris (wife Rose) of Celebration, FL and Brian (fiancé Carolina) of San Francisco, Calif.; a brother, John M. Pascoe, MD (wife Kathy), of Xenia, Ohio; a sister, Sandra Pascoe Robinson (husband John) of Bemidji, Minn.; and two cherished grandchildren, Addyson Rose, 7, and Ryan Joseph, 5, the children of Chris and Rose. She was preceded in death by her parents. A private family Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in Monroe MI and she will be interred at St. Joseph Cemetery also in Monroe. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions are suggested to The Basilica of the Shrine of Mary Queen of the Universe in Orlando or to the charity of individual choosing. Her loving spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
