Lois J. Bodell, 86 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 4, 2018 in her home.
Born December 7, 1931 in Monroe, Lois was the daughter of the late William and Julia (Miller) Percy. She was a 1949 graduate of Monroe High School.
On November 3, 1951 Lois married her beloved husband, Harry A. Bodell at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church.
Lois was employed by Monroe County Abstract and the Monroe YMCA. She was also a wonderful homemaker.
Lois was a lifelong member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, a member of St. Vincent DePaul, served on the funeral luncheon committee and was a greeter. She was also a member of Frenchtown and Monroe Senior Citizens, and was a volunteer for the Mercy Memorial Hospital Guild. An avid Bridge Player for many years, Lois played at the Sawyer Homestead, Mercy Memorial Round Robin and with other local groups. Most of all Lois loved time spent with family.
Lois is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 67 years, Harry, four loving children; John (Lisa) Bodell of Columbus, Ohio, Theodore "Ted" (Martha) Bodell of Colorado Springs, CO, Patrick (Mabel) Bodell of Wenatchee, WA and Julia (Edward) Gallagher of Monroe, MI, eight cherished grandchildren; Mike, Meghan, Lauren, Jay, Grant, Ian, Conner and Caleb and three treasured great grandchildren; Jaidiem, Liam, and Mia.
In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by three sisters; Mary Anne Percy, Wilma Cardella, and Rita Marino.
Visitation will be held on Sunday in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI, 48161, from 1-7 PM with a Scripture Service at 5:00 PM. On Monday, October 8, 2018 she will lie in state at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until Mass of the Resurrection celebrating her life at 10:00 AM. Fr. Raymond Arwady, pastor of the church, will officiate. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
