Helen Irene DuBay

Helen Irene DuBay, 91 years, of Monroe, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 16, 2015 at the IHM Health Care Center in Monroe. Born January 19, 1924 in Bay City, Michigan, Helen was the daughter of the late James Matthew and Helen Irene (Delory) Britain. Helen attended high school in Canada with senior matriculation. She went on to attend Shaw Business College for two years. On May 31, 1947, Helen married her beloved husband Joseph Victor DuBay in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In addition to being a wonderful homemaker, Helen worked as a private secretary and taught piano for over 50 years. She retired on May 14, 2010. Helen was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Detroit for 20 years, Our Lady of Victory Parish in Northville for 16 years, Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Farmington Hills for 22 years and a member of St. Michael The Archangel Parish since moving to Monroe in 2010. Helen was a member of the Third Order of Mary for 55 years where she served as president for 25 years and was a member of the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Northville and Livonia Town Hall. Helen enjoyed music, all types of crafts, especially ceramics and knitting. Helen will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who loved her Lord and time spent with family. Helen is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Vic, four loving sons: James (Kathleen) DuBay of Monroe, Richard DuBay of Sterling Heights, MI, William (Mary) DuBay of Sterling Heights, MI and Donald (Nancy) DuBay of Glendale Heights, IL, 13 cherished grandchildren and 15 treasured great grandchildren. Sadly, she was preceded in death by a son, Steven and her brother and sister in law, Martin J. and Bettie Britain. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI where a Rosary Service will be held at 4:00 PM. On Tuesday, October 20, 2015 she will lie in state at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church from 9:30 AM until Mass of the Resurrection celebrating her life at 10:30 AM. Fr. Philip Ching, pastor of the church will be the celebrant. Interment will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to IHM Health Care Center of Monroe or St. Michael The Archangel Parish in Monroe.
