Donald J. Laney

October 28, 1981 - December 8, 2013

Donald J. “D.J.” Laney, 32 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, MI went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 8, 2013.
Born October 28, 1981 in Ann Arbor, MI, “D.J.” was the son of Donald C. and Sylvia J. (Evans) Laney. “D.J.” was a 2000 graduate of Jefferson High School.
“D.J.” worked as a carpenter, a job that he thoroughly enjoyed.
“D.J.” was a member of North Monroe Street Church of God. He enjoyed more than anything time spent with family, especially with his two daughters.
“D.J.” is survived by his two cherished daughters: Skylar A. Laney of Flat Rock, MI and Audrina L. Laney of Monroe, his loving parents: Donald C. and Sylvia J. Laney of Monroe, and his beloved brother: Charlie L. Laney of Monroe. Sadly, “D.J.” was preceded in death by his grandparents: Lester and Mary Evans and Charley and Bernice (Miller) Laney.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48161, where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Tom Carr, associate pastor of North Monroe Street Church of God, will officiate. Interment will follow at Historic Woodland Cemetery in Monroe.

I remember when DJ would come to Tennessee with his mom, dad and brother to visit granny Bernice. He always loved those visits and never grew tired of being with his family. When DJ and Charlie got saved they wanted to come to Tennessee and be baptised by their "Uncle Chuck". That was an honor to me to be asked by my nephews to do that for them. I will certainly miss DJ. My brother Don and his family and DJ's family as well will be in my prayers. I certainly loved my nephew very much and will miss him tremendously. Till we meet again on that great resurrection morn, rest in peace in the arms of your Lord.
