Betty J. Duvall, 82 years of Warren, MI formerly of Monroe, MI went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren.

   Born December 16, 1929 in Bowling Green, MI Betty was the daughter of the late Joe and Ethel (Gonyer) Burkett. Betty attended Boyd School in Monroe and was a 1948 graduate of Monroe High School.

   On July 30, 1949, Betty married her beloved husband Wayne Duvall at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Monroe. Sadly Wayne preceded her in death on April 11, 1993.

   Betty was employed as a teacher’s assistant for Monroe Public Schools at South Monroe Townsite from which she retired on August 23, 1991. She also worked for Kiddie Korner Christian Day Care and Pre School Center in Monroe.

   Betty was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Monroe where she taught Sunday School, served on several committees and was a member of Ruth Circle. She was a former member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where she also taught Sunday School. Betty was a life member of Frenchtown Senior Citizens. Betty volunteered at Mercy Memorial Hospital working in the ambulatory surgical unit and in the x-ray holding department. She was also a campfire leader. Betty enjoyed traveling to Gatlinburg, TN and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

   Betty is survived by two loving children; Timothy W. (Lisa) Duvall of Warren, MI and Diane L. Vinoski of South Haven, MI, a brother; William (Nancy) Burkett, Five cherished grandchildren and 6 treasured great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents Betty was preceded in death by her son in law James Vinoski.

   In keeping with Betty’s wishes there will be no visitation or services. Interment will be private at Roselawn Memorial Park. The Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe is assisting her family with funeral arrangements.
