Ressie E. Massengill, 99 years, of Monroe, MI passed away Friday, January 27, 2012 at 8:41 AM in Mercy Memorial Hospital.

   Born August 8, 1912 in Harrogate, TN, Ressie was the daughter of the late William and Ronia (Owens) Massingill.

   Ressie married Clarence D. McCartney of Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death in 1965. On October 18, 1974 Ressie married Orville Massengill in Shelby Township, MI. Sadly he preceded her in death on October 17, 1990.

   A homemaker Ressie enjoyed gardening.

   Ressie is survived by her son: Robert E. Jones of Santa Maria, CA, a son in law: James Martin Petersen of Shelby Township, MI, a sister Thelma Anderson of Garden City, MI, 7 grandchildren, including Lori Grayce (Chris) Sajewski of Hazel Park, MI, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. In addition to her husbands and parents Ressie was preceded in death by her daughter June Petersen.

   Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe where funeral services celebrating Ressie’s life will be held on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 1:00 PM. The Rev. Sean O’Neal, pastor of Stewart Road Christian Ministries Center, will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
