   Maxine B. Chalupka, 78 years, of Monroe, MI passed away Monday, January 2, 2012 at 3:52 PM in Magnum Care of Monroe and under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe.

   Born February 18, 1933 in Whitley County, KY, Maxine was the daughter of the late Matthew John and Octava (Mullis) Paul. Maxine moved to the Monroe area in 1948.

   On January 16, 1950 Maxine married her beloved husband Paul Chalupka Jr. in South Rockwood, MI. Sadly he preceded her in death on March 20, 1988.

   A homemaker, Maxine attended Church of God Mountain Assembly. Maxine enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, traveling, attending and watching wrestling events, and she was a fan of Clark Gable. Most of all Maxine enjoyed spending time with family.

   Maxine is survived by five loving children: Ted (Mary) Chalupka of Monroe, Tim (Nancy) Chalupka of Monroe, Margaret (Larry) McWilliams of Monroe, Adam Chalupka of River Rouge, MI and Theresa (Ken) Romak of Memphis, MI, 15 cherished grandchildren, 29 treasured great grandchildren and a sister May Holt of Williamsburg, KY.

   In addition to her husband and parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her son; Matthew on January 27, 1995, her daughter; Deborah Farris on November 20, 1978, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

   Visitation will be held on Thursday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd in Monroe, where funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Dale Hayford, pastor of Cross Walk Community Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

   Memorials are suggested to Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe.
