Rayna S. Powell – Lommerse, 43 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, MI went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in her home.

   Born August 14, 1968 in Monroe, Rayna was the daughter of Ray N. and Bobbie S. (Green) Powell. Rayna was a 1986 graduate of Monroe High School and was currently enrolled at the Professional Skills Institute in Toledo pursuing a nursing degree.

   On June 28, 1997 Rayna married her beloved husband Don A. Lommerse at Evergreen Acres Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe, where she was a member of the church.

   Rayna worked as a real estate agent for both Gerweck Real Estate and Century 21 All Star Real Estate in Monroe. She also worked part time at Home’s With Flair in Monroe and as a certified nursing assistant.

   Rayna was a true animal lover and was contemplating starting her own animal rescue. She was a fan of Elvis Presley and enjoyed camping and sitting around the campfire.

   Rayna is survived by her beloved husband Don, her loving mother Bobbie S. Powell of Monroe, a son; Mathew J. McBride of Monroe, a daughter; Shawlynn N. (Wes) Reece of Monroe, a sister; Jennifer R. (Jamie) Yates of Omaha, NE, 2 cherished grandchildren; Anthony and Tavin and 2 treasured nieces Josie and Jada. Sadly she was preceded in death by her father Ray N. Powell on May 15, 1996.

   Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe where funeral services celebrating Rayna’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2011 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Von Loop will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
