   May E. (Slamiar) Maddux, 70 years, of Monroe, MI went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania, OH.

   Born May 5, 1941 in Ecorse, MI, May was the daughter of the late George and Cecelia (Plass) Hotham.

   On May 11, 1957, May married her beloved husband Robert J. Slamiar in Wyandotte, MI. May and Bob moved to Monroe in 1966 to raise their family. Sadly, Bob preceded her in death August of 1985.

   May was a member of Grace Point United Pentecostal Church in Monroe where she was baptized. May was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed going to church, playing cards, and word puzzles. Nothing made May happier than being with her family.

  May is survived by 5 loving children; Annamay (Randall Bowman) Maddux of Curtice, OH, John R. Slamiar of Monroe, Joseph P. (JoAnn) Slamiar of Newport, Daniel J. (Carla) Slamiar of Monroe, Denise (Anthony) Hopkins of Monroe, 12 cherished grandchildren, 6 treasured great grandchildren, 3 brothers; Delbert (Betty) Hotham of Gibraltar, MI, Walter Hotham of West Branch, MI, Daniel Hotham of Southgate, MI, and 3 sisters; Mary Kaiser of Prescott, MI, Alice (David) Johnston of Cincinnati, OH, and Alma (William) Faries of Southgate, MI.

  In addition to her husband and parents, May was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.

   Visitation will be held on Friday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe where funeral services celebrating May’s life will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 10:00 AM. The Rev. John Schenkle, pastor of Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Newport, MI will officiate. Interment will follow at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock, MI.

   Memorial contributions are suggested to Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Newport, MI.
