Gene served his country honorably and proudly as a Radar Man aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bennington. Upon his discharge on December 25, 1945 Gene received the Asiatic Pacific American Area Victory Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars.

Gene was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Monroe. Gene enjoyed playing cards and along with his wife Ellen enjoyed Western Round Dancing. However, nothing brought Gene more joy than being with family.

#3 sharon rauch 2011-12-08 13:02 My heart felt sympathy to all of you & your families. Gene was a very good man. We didn't get to know him well until the last 10 years…card playing & just enjoying each others company…a good laugh… he & Bob reminiscing about the "War Times" and maybe they are doing that now. We all know this time will come… we just are never prepared… but memories are special for both tears & laughs and keep talking about them as it helps. Sharon Rauch Quote

#6 G.FORD 2011-12-12 01:53 I am so sorry for your loss. May "the God of all comfort" (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) comfort and soothe your heart. His promises, found in the Holy Scriptures, can offer much hope. It assures us at John 5:28,29 that our loved ones will be remembered and brought back to life in the resurrection. Please allow God's Word to strengthen you and help you to endure this most difficult time. Quote
