Carl F. Weller, 78 years, of Luna Pier, MI passed away, Monday, August 23, 2010 at 1:01 PM in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, OH. Carl had been in declining health for several years.

Carl was born August 8, 1932 in Toledo, OH the son of the late Ernest and Ernestine (Roehle) Weller. Carl moved with his family to the Monroe area in 1936. He attended Trinity Lutheran Elementary School and was a 1952 graduate of Monroe High School. Carl was a life member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he was confirmed.

Carl served his country proudly and honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War from December 10, 1952 until October 18, 1954. After his discharge from the Army Carl became a Mail Carrier for the United States Post Service. Carl, through hard work, eventually became Post Master from which he retired in 1991.

Carl was a member of Luna Pier Senior Citizens and Luna Pier American Legion Post 193.

Carl is survived by his brother Herman Weller of LaSalle, MI and 3 sisters; Helen Patton of Toledo, OH, Carol (Robert) Dusseau of Luna Pier, MI, and Nancy Smucker of Orville, OH and 11 nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Carl was preceded in death by 2 bothers Richard and Robert Weller.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Monroe. The Rev. Bruce Crabtree, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church

The Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe is assisting Carl’s family with funeral arrangements.
