Dana Green, age 84, of Monroe, MI, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 3, 2010. Dana passed away at Magnum Health and Rehab of Monroe (formerly Tendercare) surrounded by his loving family.

Born March 1, 1926 in New Tazewell, TN, Dana was the son of the late Wesley and Rosie (Fultz) Green.

On March 2, 1946 Dana married his beloved wife the former Mollie R. Rice in Middlesboro, KY. The couple moved to Monroe on November 2, 1952 to raise their family.

Dana was employed for 32 years as a Machine Operator for GM Powertain in Toledo, OH from which he retired in 1990.

Dana was a charter member of Union Street Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe where he at one time served as an usher. Dana enjoyed traveling and attending church.

   Most of all Dana enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. Dana is survived by his beloved wife of more than 64 years Mollie, 3 loving children; Linda D. (Rev. Roger) Lands of Canton, MI, Kenneth W. Green of Monroe and Karen L. (Edwin) Rice of Monroe, 5 cherished grandchildren; Jason Lands, Michelle and Jessica Green and Benjamin and Adam Rice, 7 treasured great grandchildren, 1 sister Anna Mae Cochran of New Tazewell, TN and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Dana was preceded in death by 2 sisters, 9 brothers and 2 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 1-9 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe. On Friday, October 8, 2010 he will lie in state at Union Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1004 Union Street in Monroe, from 12:00 noon until funeral services celebrating his life at 1:00 PM. The Rev. Joe Bryant, Rev. Roger Lands, Rev. Jason Lands and the Rev. Hank Blevins will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
