Lee Williams, 86 years, of Monroe, MI passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 surrounded by his loving family at the Mercy Memorial Nursing Care Center.
Lee was born on April 2, 1924 in Tazewell, TN the son of the late Lee North and Mattie (Pope) Williams. Lee moved to Monroe in 1942.
It was in Monroe where Lee met his beloved wife the former Lucille Riggs. The couple married on September 27, 1952 in Angola, IN.
Lee was employed by Ford Motor Company in Monroe for over 30 years until his retirement in 1989.
Lee attended North Monroe Street Church of God, was a member of the U.A.W and enjoyed walking and fishing. Lee was an avid bowler whom many times led his senior league with high score.
Most of all Lee loved his family. Lee is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Lucille, 2 loving children; Dixie Lee (Jeffrey) Green of Monroe and Randy R. Williams of Byron Center, MI, 2 cherished grandchildren; Andrew and Alexandra Lee Williams, 2 half sisters; Gladys Davis of Tazewell, TN and Doris Leedy of Park Lake, IL. In addition to his parents Lee was preceded in death by a half sister Dellamae Mullins and a half brother Wayne Leedy.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-9 pm and Friday from 10 am - 2 pm in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd in Monroe (734) 241-4600. Also on Friday, September 3, 2010 he will lie in state at North Monroe Street Church of God from 4:00 PM until funeral services celebrating his life at 5:00 PM. The Rev. Rick Massingill pastor of the church will officiate. Private entombment will take place at RoselawnLocation Name
